There is truly no perfect place to begin exploring the work of London-based makeup artist Bea Sweet. Even just scrolling to the bottom of her Instagram, you will notice that the quality of her work and the eccentricity of her concepts never weakens. She is incapable of losing your interest. She’s trendy yet you’ve never seen anything like it. It’s the most enticing oxymoron. She seems to be aware of the pulse of style itself; you can see it in the way she ropes together influences from the past—the exaggerated Twiggy-esque bottom lashes, for example, which you’ll now notice recreated on beloved angel FKA Twigs—while also extrapolating into a future we can’t see and coming back to share with us, via the electricifying visages of runway models and starlets, what she found there.

My favorite Bea looks, which I’ve gathered together in a list for you, include blacked out demon eyes, angel wings as cheekbone decoration, splashes of electric blues and lavenders on dark and silky skin. Dramatic bottom lashes on our alienesque starlet FKA Twigs, who is only one member of Bea’s extensive celebrity client list: Adwoa Aboah, Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, Erykah Badu, and Kali Uchis are a few others. Pearls instead of liner, strange and distorted angles, weird colors; vibrant and choppy lipstick that should look bizarre but looks beautiful instead.
