Cannes may have just drawn to a close — but we’re still not over the
enticing display of haute couture that graced the red carpet this year. Of course, we can’t cover all the gems — let’s face it, it’s the 71st annual
Film Festival de Cannes, and there’s just way too many ensembles
that gave us life. So, alternatively, here are the top 5 gowns that stole our hearts.
LAIS RIBEIRO IN ALI KAROUI.
Lais Ribeiro gave us some dazzling honeymoon vibes (don’t know about
you, but that’s our honeymoon goals attire — we’re extra). Perfectly
complimenting her naturally sun-kissed glow, the Brazilian model
stunned in an intricately embellished emerald coutour gown, designed by none other than Ali Karoui. Accompanied with matching Giuseppe
Zanotti heels and white diamond Avakian earrings (from the Gatsby
collection may we add) Ribeiro’s plunging V-neck and mermaid-esque
figure were enough to enchant us forever.
IRINA SHAYK IN ALBERTA FERRETTI
A vision — in velvet. Irina Shayk embodied the entire essence of
glamour, showing up at the Chopard ‘Secret Night Party’ at the French Riviera. Naturally, glistening in Chopard jewels — diamonds & emerald seem to be a thing this year — her radiant gown was only further highetend with that sultry high-slit, not to mention the Swarovski crystal embedded interior — that just made her entire Ferretti ensemble.
CAMILLA COELHO IN RALPH & RUSSO
Taking up to 500 hours to create, Camilla Coelho’s million dollar Ralph & Russo gown was certainly worth the effort — the woman was fire.
Lavished with a sultry black, strapless bodice, and glamoured with
Messika diamond earrings and neck-piece, her entire look was worth over $1 million dollars (so you can probably stop feeling guilty about your last excessive shoe purchase at this point). Coelho’s gown itself featured a spectacular 7-foot trail, complete with a symmetrical silk organza frill (enough to awe all of the influencer’s 7.1 million IG followers, for sure).
NAOMI CAMPBELL IN PIORET
Gracing the red carpet in lieu of the screening for
BlacKkKlansman , our high fashion queen herself, Naomi Campbell, was as flawless as ever in that Pioret Fall’18 dress — which tastefully left some to the imagination. With that intricate mesh bodice, accented in the back with a bronze oversized bow — and satin choker for good measure — this was yet another confirmation of her status as royalty.
DEEPIKA PADUKONE IN ASHI STUDIO COUTOURE
Actress Deepika Padukone litterally looked like a work of art when
finalising her Cannes 2018 diaries — entirely in fusia. After
experimenting with patterns, prints and colours throughout her two-day
stay at Cannes (remember that solid purple Victoria Hayes suit?) her
devotion to the fashion statement continued with a majestic origami gown from Ashi Studio’s SS18 Collection. With each yard of tule giving way to a three-dimensional performance as she twirled for the cameras — along with those Lorraine Schwartz diamonds which glistened on her hands and ears, there’s just nothing left to be said; we’re in love.
