8 Nail Trends That We Can’t Wait To Try This Spring

NBGA-springnails

While manicures are one of my favorite forms of self-care, it can be easy to fall into a rut.  Sometimes I find myself with the same boring, work-appropriate light pink for months at a time, and now that spring is just around the corner, that needs to change. If you’re feeling uninspired too, we’ve got you covered.

Social media is overflowing with nail art inspiration, and we’ve rounded up some of our favorite nail trends to try, whether you’re getting ready for spring break or just want to show off a new manicure at happy hour.

Jelly Nails

Jelly nails are one of the most exciting nail trends I’ve seen in a long time. They’re super fun and colorful for spring, and they also evoke just the tiniest bit of nostalgia for the days of jelly sandals (which are also back…somehow). You can keep it simple with just one color or switch it up on each nail, but if you’re not into acrylics these might not be for you because let’s be honest, the longer they are the cooler they look.

Bright White

The Queen, along with the rest of the world, loves Essie’s classic Ballet Slippers, and for good reason! But if you want to try something different without slipping completely out of your comfort zone, I highly suggest a stark white manicure. Bright white nails are simple yet chic, and will really make heads turn.

Chrome

Chrome nails are a great option for everyone because you can make them as wild or as subdued as you like. If you’re feeling adventurous you can rock a bright color on extra-long acrylics, but for a more low-key look, try a classic metallic hue on shorter nails. Either way, chrome nails are an easy way to switch up your manicure that everyone will love.

Shimmer

Glitter nails have been popular for a long time, but the less flashy shimmer nails are coming back into style. This is a great nail trend for people who just want to add a little something extra to their natural nails, without having to spend all that time and money at a salon. There are a ton of brands with shimmery options, whether you’re the drug store type or are looking for more of a high-end lacquer. For a sophisticated pastel look, try OPI’s shimmery periwinkle shade Show Us Your Tips.

Transparent

Transparent nails are just like jelly nails, only they’re completely clear. This is a fun look on its own, but it’s even better with a decal. I am living for this clear set with gold Chanel decals, and it’s making me very sad about my current lackluster nails.

Multicolored

Anyone can rock multicolored nails, but they’re ideal for when your natural nails are too short for intricate designs and decals. There are so many variations of this trend, you can paint each nail a different bright color, or stick to the same color family with a deeper shade on each finger for an ombre effect.

Tortoise Shell

If you don’t already follow Allure’s Editor in Chief, Michelle Lee on Instagram, I highly recommend that you do. Her feed contains endless nail inspo, and one of her most recent looks is a little more complex than usual. Michelle does many of her nail looks herself, but these airbrushed tortoise nails were so impressive they’ve got me scouring the internet for the closest airbrushed manicurist. Of course, you can always just do a DIY tortoise manicure but it might take a little practice.

Inspired by Nature

From tidal waves to tropical plants, our nails are the perfect canvas for scenes from nature. With spring just around the corner, we’re going to see a lot of cacti, palm trees, and flowers, but I think ocean nails take the cake. You can go with a campy cartoon look, or a dramatic blue marbled look like in this Instagram photo.
