Face the Facts | Facials: What to Get and Where to Get It

Wondering which treatment is right for you? If you go to your local spa, you’ll see that there’s plenty of facials to choose from. The problem that comes with facials is that many people don’t know which facial to get because they don’t know which skin issues need to be treated. That’s why we’ve broken down two of the most popular facials, along with an extra important first step that’s essential for anyone whose is getting a facial treatment.

First things first, get a SkinScope Treatment.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR THIS PROCEDURE?

SkinScope is a diagnostic tool created by Skinceuticals. It helps to pinpoint skin’s issues and is suitable for all skin types.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

The SkinScope is an LED tool that is designed to “reveal underlying skin concerns before they rise to the surface”. It does this through two different light modes: a simulated daylight mode which is used for viewing visible skin concerns that are already evident on the skins surface, as well as an LED-UV light mode which is used to identify any underlying damage beneath the skins surface. Knowledge is power and the results from a SkinScope session may leave you shook – because this tool can show you anything from clogged pores to damage caused from sun exposure.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When the UV light hits the skin, it reacts in different ways by showing different colors. Normally, melanin absorbs the light, showing as an absence of color. But when using the SkinScope, compounds can be seen differently, as it changes “the wavelength to colors that are not normally visible to the human eye”. Depending on what the light observes, a diagnosis for a treatment can be given.

WANT TO TRY IT FOR YOURSELF?

The cost of a SkinScope treatment varies but your best bet is to have it done prior to choosing a facial treatment. Once you know the issues your skin is having, the more prepared you’ll be to choose the proper facial treatment for you. You can find a SkinScope specialist here. And if you’re looking for a place in Germany, click here.

The creators behind the HydraFacial are so confident in their treatment that they promise it will “not only improve the look of your skin, but with frequent treatments, will restore skin health” – a bold claim, indeed.

According to the creators of the HydraFacial, it “removes dead skin cells and extracts impurities while simultaneously bathing the new skin with cleansing, hydrating and moisturizing serums.”

Looking for anti-aging? Try the Vampire Lift.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR THIS PROCEDURE?

Those dealing with tired, drooping skin or those who suffer from scarring (from acne or other traumas), as well as anyone who is seeking to improve skin tone and texture will benefit greatly from the Vampire Lift. Though it was initially made famous by Kim Kardashian, other Hollywood heavyweights like Gisele Bündchen and Bar Rafaeli also swear by this treatment.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

By using your own blood, the multipotent stem cells develop into “new collagen, new blood vessels, and new fatty tissue”. The result is firmer, brighter, and more rejuvenated skin.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Vampire Lift is a four-step procedure that begins with the physician drawing blood from your own arm, much like a nurse would at a routine doctor’s visit. The physician then isolates platelets from that blood in order to “isolate the growth factors from that blood”. The physician then uses a micro-needling device “to create multiple micro-punctures –both driving the isolated growth factors into the skin & creating stimulus for tightening and rejuvenation of the collagen”. Once the punctures from the micro needling is complete, the physician then “paints the growth factors (aka YOUR BLOOD) onto the micro-punctures” which allows the blood, I mean, your “growth factors” to “soak into the tissue for further stimulation of tightening and skin rejuvenation”. Not creepy at all, right?

WANT TO TRY IT YOURSELF?

You can expect to pay anywhere from $900 to $1500 for a single Vampire Lift treatment. But the good news is that the payoff is equally as hefty – they boast that it will continue to improve skin for up to 2 to 3 months directly following the procedure and that your results will last for up to two years. If you’d like to find a Vampire Lift specialist near you, you can find one here. And if you’re looking for a place in Germany, click here.
