Nicki Minaj announced her retirement on Twitter last week. The tweet left critics and the “Barbs” confused, upset, and skeptical. It is not often that artists in general retire, especially not someone as passionate about their craft as Nicki is. Whether this retirement is serious or not, you cannot deny her impact, lyrical skills, or the fact that you can still rap the lyrics to “I Get Crazy” or “Itty Bitty Piggy” word for word (all gestures and ad libs included). Her music gives her listeners time to talk crazy, time to feel like that girl, even if it’s for a couple minutes. From her clothes, to her hair, to the infamous Barbie chain – Nicki is an icon. There is no #NickiHateTrain here.
