Among a dim room with white sheer curtains blowing in the wind, shadowed trees and a socially distanced audience, Fendi revealed their latest Women and Men’s Ready-to-Wear Spring 2021 collection at Milan Fashion Week.

The genius behind the magnificent spring summer collection titled ‘Reflections’, is Fendi’s Creative Director, Silvia Ventuirni Fendi. The collection is a patchwork of memories that reflects the true comforts of home, replicating traditional apron dresses, tunics and house coats with a modern twist. In the formal invitation to the Fendi SS21 show Silvia wrote: “In my family we have always put great meaning into what we do. Here I wanted to achieve clothes that are about the moment, but which are also part of your life, for your life.”

The dreamy, nostalgic collection featured delicate sheer dresses, floral appliques and structured androgynous suits that come in a variety of white, cream, pastel blue and earthy tones. Linen made up a large part of the collection, combined with cotton and lace, feathers and fur. Towards the end of the show, a daring black and red theme emerged including beautiful, long gradient coloured jackets, ‘50s inspired dresses and signature Fendi furs.

Famous faces walked the runway including Ashley Graham (her first Fendi show!), Penelope Tree, Paloma Elsesser, Fernando Cabral and ’90s supermodels Yasmin Le Bon and Jill Kortleve. What was particularly striking about this collection was the diverse range of models, considering luxury fashion houses have a reputation for their lack of diversity, Fendi has been upping their game since their first plus-size models walked earlier this year at Milan Fashion week.

This is the final collection by Silvia Ventuirni Fendi as Kim Jones will soon take over the next season as the new Artistic Director of Womenswear. Her powerful feminine touch has brought Fendi to the forefront of innovation, creating timeless pieces like the iconic Fendi Baguette bag that have undoubtedly left a mark in the fashion world. In an interview with Vogue she said: “This is the intro to a new chapter. I’m ready to jump into something new. It’s going to be very interesting. Kim is a friend. I’m happy.”
