OFF-White’s recent Men’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection is a commentary on life as we know it. The collection’s name designed by Virgil Abloh “What Stars Are You Under?” reflects on the current tumultuous era of COVID-19 and the new civil rights movement Black Lives Matter. Virgil doesn’t cease to impress with this one especially with how timely this collection is. It’s definitely the most relatable of collections that have come out this year, and I’m sure other designers might follow Abloh’s lead in incorporating memos of this social distancing while protesting time.

The collection ranges from novelty pieces, a pair of gloves that read, “I Support Young Black Businesses” to a hoodie with the graphic of a construction truck pushing the Earth. Another piece as commentary to our isolation is a screen-printed bomber jacket with an image of windows with lights shining through referencing staying indoors. If you can tell from the gallery, these pieces were meant to “clash” or are oxymorons as the pieces have great structure and tailored to fit so well. The accessories are also statement pieces featuring pointed toed boots, sneakers that glow, and even distressed construction shoes to go with the tailored suits. The bags are actually more minimal than the usual logo coverings with the OFF-White signatures for branding.
