Rap’s punk princess Rico Nasty drops raging debut album “Nightmare Vacation”

Rico Nasty is someone who knows exactly how to hypnotize her listeners. Her unique blend of trap, pop, and punk is a nearly-fatal attraction. At just 23-years-old, the Maryland-based rapper created a cult following with her punk fantasy appeal and her smash hits like “Smack A Bitch” and “Tia Tamera.” Last week, the Rico Nasty debuted Nightmare Vacation, including star-features from Gucci Mane, Trippie Redd, Aminé, and more. Described as an adrenaline rush of sound, the rapper transforms into her beloved alter-ego, experimenting with different flows and melodies while keeping her addictive style.

In just sixteen tracks (with two of them being “Smack A Bitch” remixes), the trap-punk princess is coming for blood. The album is an extension of her signature sound, an intensely expressive experience of rap-metal that might inspire mosh pits in a post-pandemic festival world. Her music is heavy and furious.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Rico Nasty shares her inspiration for the album, stating, “A lot of this project feels like it was made in the future. The whole journey of a Nightmare Vacation is to overcome a series of things that you didn’t think you could and find peace in them.” It also encapsulates all of her dreams come true as she states in her track “OHFR?” while continuing to wreak havoc if she doesn’t get her way.

Niggas said I’m actin’ different since I got a deal

I just think I’m eatin’ different, more food for the meal

No more Happy Meal, just champagne cheers
