Earlier this week WWD reported that Rihanna had partnered up with TechStyle Fashion Group, parent company of Fabletics, to launch a lingerie line. You may be familiar with the latter via Kate Hudson and Demi Lovato who actively promote the athletic line, but it looks like the singer is about to take the partnership with TechStyle in a whole different direction. And umm, honestly, I don’t know how I did not see this coming, because Ri + lingerie makes so much sense. Who better to entrust to clothe us (kinda) at our most vulnerable? Ms. Fenty will be taking all my money and like many, I have no problem with that.
The timing also seems right. The rise of Fenty Beauty last year and previous success with her Fenty Puma launches indicate lingerie will inevitably be another successful business venture. Helping is that consumers are always ready for anything Ri’ related whether it be her musical endeavours or beauty and fashion projects, and the lingerie division of fashion seems to be craving something more. It is no secret that Victoria’s Secret has been struggling lately and as one of the most popular retailers for ~intimates~ , a void needs to be filled. Perfect timing? The news is exciting for those over VS’s repetitive designs and limited sizes, and on the hunt for something new.
Who else is ready to see what silk and lace creations emerge from Ri’s imagination? What will the line be called? Will it also debut with an outstanding range of products like her beauty line? Given the inclusivity of Fenty Beauty, many are already speculating this will be the case. So many questions, but luckily we have the interwebs to keep us laughing and in the loop until then. Twitter blew up upon hearing the news and folks wasted no time letting the Twittersphere know how they felt.
