In a nod to the early 2000s, Kappa and Juicy Couture have launched a capsule collection and its campaign starring Sofia Richie that launched yesterday, September 9th. The first drop of the incredible collaboration will be a collection fully derived from delicate silk satin. Kappa and Juicy Couture plan on a second drop composed of classic velour in time for fall weather, a shoutout to the fabric that has become synonymously tied with the Juicy Couture brand.
This collaboration is a time capsule of the era of nostalgia that we love, a time when Paris Hilton roamed Los Angeles streets with a pomeranian on both her arms and Justin Bobby was your go-to celebrity crush. Its leisure meets glam meets 2020. Juicy Couture and Kappa tapped Amber Asaly, photography legend, to produce this sepia-toned, extravagant look through what only her lens could capture. She re-envisioned the classic tracksuit with her muse, Sofia Richie. They had us running for our RAZRs and frantically searching Netflix for the OC episodes.
The collaboration features fitted tracksuits, tube tops, belted bum bags, slides and more in a pastel palette of mint and blush, along with neutral offerings in a shade of black smoke. Each design includes instantly recognizable detail including the iconic Kappa Omini logo depicting a man and woman sitting back-to-back with the Juicy Couture Old English initial J entwined with a C across the classic Kappa banda running along the arms and legs of track suiting. The collaboration also includes the iconic Juicy stamp in Old English across the seat of track pants.
Sofia Richie brings an exciting energy to the collaboration as the face of the campaign. The collection is brought to life through the campaign’s creative team, which includes make-up by Sam Visser and styling by Mimi Cuttrell. Her effortless attitude and ease that comes to wearing the collection throughout the day spent in extravagance at a chateau in the foothills of LA.
The Kappa x Juicy Couture collection ranges from $40 – $225. The first drop will be available for purchase exclusively from September 10th – 13th at a pop-up in Los Angeles (8618 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90069) before becoming available at global retailers online on September 15th including, Kappa.com, and at the Galeries Lafayette Champs-Elysees on October 1st.
