It’s no secret or table-shaking news that we peons at NBGA love us some Rihanna. What is news, is that our Bajan Queen has won her first award for her LMVH luxury fashion house, Fenty. Rihanna made history earlier in the year as the first black woman to spearhead a luxury fashion house after years of consistently being everyone’s fashion icon and the head of almost every “Best Dressed” list.
Janet Jackson presented the mogul with the Urban Luxe award and mentioned the many hats and qualities that Rihanna is loved for: being an activist, artist, and icon. Rihanna, wearing a teal confection of an ensemble, embraced Jackson as she accepted the award along with longtime collaborator Jahleel Weaver. Forever an inspiration, we look forward to what else Ms. Fenty has in the works. Maybe new music?
