Watch Portland’s best virtual tour in Aminé’s new single “Shimmy”

Aminé has released his new visual and single entitiled “Shimmy”. Without beating around the bush, the Portland born rapper addresses his year long hiatus from releasing music in the single’s opening line. He hasn’t been twiddling his thumbs – his return to rap seems well calculated. This track pays homage to Wu-Tang Clan’s, Ol Dirty Bastard with a sample of his 1995 hit “Shimmy Shimmy Ya”. Aminé shows he has a year worth of bars to get off his chest. He delivers clever one liners over this new age boom bap beat, reminding his fans of his humor.

Aminé paid for a billboard that read “YES, THERE ARE BLACK PEOPLE IN PORTLAND” back in 2018. In 2020, he is still dedicated to putting his city on the map with the visual for “Shimmy”. From the aerial view of him dancing on the Convention Center, to food trucks and boating in the Willamette River, the video is essentially an Aminé virtual tour of Portland, Oregon.

Aminé has already claimed this year in the first verse, so we can’t wait to hear the rest of the music.
