The Best NYFW Beauty Looks and the Products You Need to Recreate Them

This New York Fashion Week has been one for the books. It’s been an eventful, some would even say polarizing week so far, but as usual, I’m focusing on the makeup and I like what I see. As some designers showcase their Spring 2019 lines on models rocking an androgynous beauty look, even more are incorporating bright colors, textured lips, and intergalactic themes. Here are some of our favorites.

Savage x Fenty

Listen, I wanted to save the best for last but this show was just too damn good. It’s really no surprise that Rihanna’s new lingerie line would produce some of the most stunning beauty looks on the runway, but I’m still floored. There was neon liner, shimmering skin, and rich, vibrant eyeshadows. Remember at the 2017 Met Gala when Rihanna was one of the few celebs to actually wear Comme des Garçons? She looked flawless of course, but the best part was her blush application, known as draping. Well, even that was on display at the Savage x Fenty runway. 10s across the board, RiRi, as usual. Oh, and you already know where to go to recreate these looks.

Rodarte

I yelped when I saw the looks from Rodarte’s Spring Ready-to-Wear 2019 runway. The florals, the highly-pigmented shadows, the red lips! It’s like a Frida Kahlo x Marie Antoinette x Queen of Hearts fever dream and I never want to wake up. Makeup artist James Kaliardos achieved this lovely look using Nars Single Eyeshadows paired with a classic red lip. This is one of those runway moments that inspires me to hide my beigey-nude palettes from myself and break out the colors.

Zero + Maria Cornejo

Intense color was also on display at the Zero + Maria Cornejo SS2019 runway, only this time it was far more concentrated in the form of neon orange liner. This is a simple way to incorporate a pop of color into your beauty routine, and more and more brands are releasing their version of neon liner (watch our NBGA tutorial for the look here). Try this look for yourself with the inexpensive NYX Vivid Brights liner, and get ready for some intense color payoff.

Area

Intergalactic iridescence was on display at the Area SS2019 runway. Models gleamed with bluish opal lipstick and high-shine fuschia blush. Break out your best highlighters to recreate these looks, and maybe even some duochrome shadows, like this lovely one from Natasha Denona.

Oscar de la Renta

For those of you who don’t want to wear bright colors or a blinding highlight to the office, the Oscar de la Renta SS2019 had a beautiful display of fresh faces with a peachy blush and classic eyeliner. Peach blush is a fun way to switch up your look without getting too crazy. Try this look using Glossier’s Cloud Paint in Beam, it has a soft and buildable formula, making it a great cream blush for any skin tone.

Jeremy Scott

We’re finally switching gears from color to texture, in the form of foiled metallic lips at the Jeremy Scott SS2019 show. This look was inspired by Jeremy Scott’s club kid past, and according to Vogue, was created using MAC’s 3-D Glitters. Even drugstore brands are hopping on the foiled lip trend, so we might as well try it… right?

Naeem Khan

The runway at the Naeem Khan SS2019 show had an assortment of colorful gowns and models wearing a simple berry lipstick, but their glossy hair is what caught my attention. Glass hair is a new trend taking over Hollywood, which basically means celebrities are loving super polished and glossy bobs. This show took it a step further with sleek low ponytails that were EXTRA glossy. To get this look at home, all you need is a shine serum, like the Ouidad Shine Glaze Serum.

My favorite part of New York Fashion week is obviously recreating the beauty looks, but if anyone wants to get any designer outfits off their hands you know where to find me.
